  • About the role – Associate Database Administrator:
  •  
  • Oversees one or more system environments including development, QA, staging and production to assure server reliability and customer value.  Proactively analyzes, implements, interprets, and troubleshoots the design and architecture of OEConnection’ s database structure. Participates in related projects and activities; complies with company database standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Designs, implements, executes, and troubleshoots database backup and restore processes in one environment, or among several environments (includes development, QA, staging, and production).
  • Creates, executes, and interprets results from simple to moderately complex ad hoc SQL queries.
  • Monitors, interprets, and troubleshoots SQL server health of moderate complexity including database status, security, indexing, logging, and similar issues that could affect system performance, security, integrity, and/or availability.
  • Analyzes, monitors, and troubleshoots SQL database custom code and configurations of moderate complexity including stored procedures, replication, SQL jobs, DTS/SSIS packages; creates, modifies, and optimizes control of customer code.
  • Installs, configures, and interprets output of database management tools and queries and translates into recommended courses of action to resolve or prevent issues.
  • Investigates, recommends, applies, and/or coordinates application of changes to SQL data, SQL databases, SQL server settings, instance settings, and database code.
  • Leads and participates in select database architecture and design projects and activities.
  • Identifies, recommends, and champions improvements to database infrastructure that increases performance, reduces cost, improves availability, and/or provides more value to customers.
  • Adheres to and complies with company database standards, policies, procedures, and best practices; assists with creating and/or updating, as dictated by business needs.
  • Coaches and guides junior-level database administrators’ technical and business skills.

  • Ideal Experience and Skills:
  • Atleast 2 years of progressively responsible experience with Microsoft SQL Server database administration in a multi-server, multi-database environment; Microsoft SQL database or Microsoft Windows server related certifications preferred. 
  • Requires a thorough understanding of the principles and practices of database administration, specifically database terms, concepts, and DB software installation/ configuration. 
  • Windows 20xx (2003 preferred) Operating System software, terms, concepts, installation, and configuration; operational characteristics of Microsoft SQL Server database system.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • strong individual contributor and team player attributes when working on and/or leading projects within the department. 
  • Ability to work cross functionally and communicate company database information to developers, management team members and others as needed.
