Job Description :
• Responsible for researching information on legislation that affects the use, tracking and reporting of software assets, staying current and researching the impact of pending regulations and legislations.
• Monitor software legislation trends for each client geographical area, Map legislation to compliance requirements
• Design training material at multiple levels including quick guides, online, course
• Communicate software compliance requirements to various group teams
• Manage internal IT audit process for SAM; Create and manage audit response team
• Verify and validate SAM practice against compliance requirements
• Responsible to evaluate the accuracy of asset information in the SNOW tool; Assists auditors in the review of Asset Management compliance;
• Enforces Asset Management policies; Ensures interfaces take place with other ITSM processes, internal functions, and external suppliers.
• Implements and builds controls for a software inventory, ultimately linking licensing, usage, locations, and documentation for all software products
• Maintains visibility into software asset processes and builds controls for software assets throughout the lifecycle to uncover more savings and value, reduce support and rollout costs and maintain compliance
• Develops, implements, and promotes policies, processes and procedures for software acquisitions, installations, usage, and disposition
• Provides the correct applications to the specified users at optimal intervals to obtain the best value and to eliminate unnecessary software products
• Utilizes available resources to solve problems, aware that SAM issues interrelate and impact important business objectives
• Enacts and maintains a proactive Software Asset Management compliance process or continually works toward replacing reactive processes
• Uses software policies, processes, and procedures to identify and thwart software piracy and theft
• Builds and nurtures productive relationships with all other business units, both those that interact with the IT business functions and those that are customers
• Provides employee awareness of Software compliance
• Conducts responsibilities and tasks in support of the Software Asset Management Lead
• Responsible for the below Software Asset Management compliance and optimization tasks improvement and identify and implement the Automation opportunities:
o Involved in the calculating of software license compliance based on software license right-to-use (RTU), software license agreements, maintenance agreements and software installations
o Validate requirements to create or modify IT software asset records and associated contract records in appropriate software repository (SNOW)
o All changes to vendor agreements are accurately reflected in SAM as confirmed with License Contract holders
o Provide expertise in ensuring that software license contracts and agreements, software licenses and software installations and associated linkages are reflected correctly in the ITAM / Software Asset Management platform repository
o Provide expertise to ensure that software license records are linked to the correct hardware device
o Create and update software counters for software titles and licenses. Research, upgrade, and downgrade parameters that impact client Right to Use (RTU) when creating or modifying software title counters
o Provides monthly and quarterly software license compliance status reports to Sr. Management
o Review software compliance measures based on existing licensing agreements
o Understand current utilization and installation of licenses based on RTU focus
o Provide analysis of Asset Data information for compliance and risk purposes as well as trends, contracts, and cost.
o Ensure the IT Asset Inventory (Software) statistics are delivered within agreed timelines.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge & Experience:
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, and Information Systems or equivalent experience, Master's preferred.
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• Strong experience in Software asset management related international standards (e.g., ISO 19770, ISO20000/ITIL); SAM certification preferred (e.g., IAITAM Certified Software Asset Manager).
• Experience with license management and optimization tools, software discovery tools (e.g., SNOW or MS SCCM or LANDesk) and IT asset inventory systems
• MS product Suite including Visio and MS project
• Minimum 10 yrs. of of experience in Software Asset Management, 3+ yrs. of experience in Project Management.
• Expert with software license compliance and optimization techniques
