Short Description of the Job

Responsible for inventing and designing compelling and pleasing the visual aspects of user experiences for a range of products delivered across multiple platforms from desktop to web, from mobile to tablet devices for both browser based experiences and native apps.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and extend the visual designs of NWG products, working closely with user experience architects, researchers, product owners and developers to create both new and extend existing products and features.

• Contribute to the definition of a visual language, design patterns, principles and standards that centre around customer value, best practice, consistency and re-use

• Developing visual designs iteratively working closely with user experience designers to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas

Accountabilities

• Ability to translate customer insights into designed experiences (then telling a compelling story around it)

• Participate in content and application audits including gauging the usability of new and existing products and making constructive suggestions for change

• Champion of the best possible visual design solutions, principles and processes

• Work with Agile project teams and key stakeholders to develop and deliver user centred solutions within project timeframes and objectives

• Design solutions that employ and improve the NWG Experience Language (principles, standards, design patterns and styles centred around best practice, consistency and re-use)

• Works with project stakeholders to help understand and define customer value, and collaborates with the delivery teams sharing user experience guidelines aiding them in defining and delivering their required outcomes. Participates in sprint / iteration planning, refinement, retrospectives / iteration reviews and other sessions as necessary

• Influence Product and Feature Team members and other stakeholders to introduce a mind-set and culture of developing services and products which delight the customer.

• Enables an open collaborative environment by building and maintaining deep relationships with project stakeholders, creating an environment where all parties can be open and transparent about what they value, want and need

Experience of delivering designs for applications intended for use in high performance environments.

• Proven experience in visual design with a proven track record of providing high quality design concepts and assets for applications.

• Have a portfolio demonstrating both creative thinking and the delivery of effective and pleasurable visual design solutions.

• An eye for visual interaction details, excellent creative skills, excellent verbal skills, and an ability to think creatively & laterally.

• Disciplined UCD approach to their work and will be comfortable presenting their work and the rationale behind it.
